In our work together, you will be the one to lead. You will direct the therapeutic process, what information is shared and at what depth and pace. I’ll be the one who is privileged to offer you a safe space to share your unedited truth.

Therapy

We will work to develop a strong therapeutic relation, one defined by trust, safety and transparency.

In our work together you will be encouraged to connect deeply with your inner self and all the parts that make you, you! I’ll be here to remind you of your power and how to voice your needs so that you can move towards the change you desire.

You will start to notice how you show up in the world and further cement the changes you want for yourself and your relationships. By learning how to stop asking for permission and to fiercely show up for yourself with compassion and grace you will notice how liberating it is to stand in your truth. You will build lasting confidence and bring about change as you heal and grow.

It can be hard to take this first step towards improving your life. Sometimes you are at an impasse that you can either continue on even if it's not working or you can try something different that will help. I believe in you. You are not alone in your experience. Your circumstances can improve with help.

I work with adults in individual, couple or group sessions. Here are a few things we can address in therapy:

Anxiety

Anxiety is the body’s natural response to stress and is intended to protect you. However, persistent anxiety is not helpful, and can impact your quality of life significantly. Anxiety can present as racing thoughts, panic attacks, uncontrollable worry and difficulty concentrating. It can leave you feeling exhausted, irritable, and unable to live life the way you would like to.

  • We will seek to understand how anxiety shows up for you in your thoughts and nervous system response.

We’ll target feelings of anxiety, worry, and fear and you will learn how to take charge, manage your thoughts and become aware of your nervous systems response so that you can actively work towards feeling in control and regain a sense of calm in your life.

Depression

Depression can impact your life in many ways. Whether you have been diagnosed with depression or have symptoms of depression it can be hard to navigate daily activities when you are depressed. It can make it difficult to get out of bed, take care of yourself, go to work, and participate in activities you once enjoyed. Being depressed is exhausting and you may notice your energy, mood, focus, sleep, appetite and other areas of your life are suffering.

  • We’ll begin by understanding you and your experiences. You’ll develop skills in therapy that will help improve your mood and energy levels, and give you hope for the future. With time, you’ll begin to live a fuller life that feels more aligned with your purpose.

Life Transitions and Changes

One guarantee in life is change. This change requires a certain level of growth and acceptance. Instead of fighting change or continuing to do what you always done even when it is no longer serving you, you can choose how you respond to change and how to function alongside it. This can make coping with change much easier.

  • We will work together to understand the impact that change has had on you, and we’ll work together to find resources to support you through change and incorporate your personal strengths into this chapter of your life. You’ll regain a sense of control and find hope for the present and future regardless of the change you may be experiencing.

Personal Growth and Development

It's always good to take the time to check in with yourself to ask these questions: “Who am I?”, “Why am I like this?” and “How do I want to live my life?” Sometimes these questions come about after life transitions, losses or new experiences and inspire you to focus on your growth and development. You’ll gain greater insight and self-awareness and an increased sense of confidence so that you can live a more fulfilled life based on intentional decision making.

  • We will explore your core values and determine what is important to you rather than what you might have taken on from those around you or larger society.

You will learn to understand what you want most in life and why and how to live in congruence with your identified values, beliefs, needs and wants.

You will explore factors that contribute to your stress in the key areas of your life - work/ school, family and friends, intimate relationships and community.

As we work together, you will develop strategies to feel more balanced and in-control.

You will discover ways to incorporate self-care and self-compassion in your daily life.

Stress and Burnout

Our society’s hustle mentality is causing widespread stress and burnout as we live over scheduled and work to meet unrealistic expectations as a standard way of functioning. Navigating these internal and external pressures can leave you feeling stressed, overwhelmed, and hopeless and you may find yourself feeling extremely irritable, not like yourself and struggling to find balance.

  • In therapy, we’ll explore factors that contribute to your stress levels such as work, school, family, and relationships. You’ll develop strategies to help you feel more balanced and in-control and discover ways to incorporate self-care and self-compassion tools into your day-to-day life to reduce your stress levels.

Perfectionism

Do you ever feel like you need to be perfect, and everything must be perfect and if it’s not - you feel as though you’re not good enough? Perfectionism isn’t just about high expectations or winning. Perfectionism is defined by Brene Brown as a self-destructive and addictive belief system that is fueled by this primary thought: If I look perfect and do everything perfectly, I can avoid or minimize painful feelings of blame, judgment, and shame. Perfectionism is an avoidance strategy we use to push away pain.

  • I’ll take the time to get to know you, and we’ll delve into how you learned to live life based on perfection. I’ll help you break away from the pattern of meeting specific conditions to be deemed worthy.

We’ll work together to dismantle perfectionistic beliefs, turning them into progress, authenticity, and acceptance. With time, you’ll build confidence and implement tools to work through self-doubt and inner criticism.

Low Self-Esteem

If you struggle with low self esteem, you may have a strong inner critic who comes to judge, criticize and shame you at the most inopportune times. Low self-esteem can hamper your ability to feel confident in work and daily life. It can lead you to dislike and devalue yourself, especially through fierce comparison. It’s an uncomfortable feeling that may require therapeutic support to overcome.

  • In therapy, we’ll take the time to assess your level of self esteem. As well as the impact of this on your daily life and decision making. We’ll take the time to determine the root cause of your low self esteem. You’ll learn to understand your inner critic and how to manage it by building your self confidence.

With time, you’ll learn how to acknowledge your strengths and celebrate your beauty.
